Since the 1980s, technological advances in the personal computer have changed dramatically. In the early days, computers could only be controlled using a keyboard. Now Chromebooks we can interact with a computer with a mouse, a graphics tablet, a touch screen and even voice recognition technology. For example, I wrote this article while speaking into a microphone while words magically appeared in my word processing document.

A few years ago, a user had to write software or software manually using code code. There are now hundreds of thousands of commercially available applications for computer use. In addition, the computing experience has actually changed from desktops and home office to telephone and DSL Internet and broadband cable connections. In addition, Wi-Fi connections allow laptops, notebooks, and tablets to physically take your computer out of the office.

New Google Chromebooks take computing to the next level. These laptops, manufactured by Samsung and Acer, are powered by the Google Chrome browser operating system. The new user will notice a big difference from the moment the notebook is opened. The computer starts booting immediately and will be ready for use in about 8-10 seconds. The Internet is connected via Wi-Fi or an optional triple-generation adapter.

Each time the computer is started, the operating system installation is checked online. This, like other security features, protects your computer from malware and other threats on the Internet. Most of the applications that run on these computers are also web-based, and the data created on the laptops is stored in the "cloud."

While these web-based features benefit the home user, the impact on education and business can be tremendous. IT department disruption is reduced as group policies, permissions, and other network maintenance tasks are performed through a web-based interface. Because computer users access their applications online, there's no problem installing software to fix them. Every user works with programs and applications that push it.

Because files are stored online on secure servers, data collection has been improved. If a computer is lost, stolen or damaged, the user will only need to purchase another computer to continue working. Chromebooks can be used as a standalone computer or as part of a network with other traditional personal computers.
